Transit Tunnel Work to Affect T, Buses Sept. 14-15

Continued rail grinding work will close the Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel to buses from 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14 until 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Additionally, light rail service will be single-tracking in the area during that time.

Seven Port Authority bus routes are affected and will detour via Allentown and the Wabash Tunnel, with minor stop changes.

Due to the single-tracking, temporary T boarding changes will be in effect at South Hills Junction and Station Square, although trains will still use the transit tunnel. On Friday night, outbound riders at these stations must board from the inbound platform. On Saturday morning, inbound riders must board from the outbound platform.

Delays of around 10 minutes are possible due to the detours and single-tracking. T riders and those on affected bus routes should allow for extra travel time during this work.
