Route Changes Start Sun., 3/27; Riders May Check Port Authority Website for Information

Port Authority of Allegheny County will implement a 15 percent service reduction starting tomorrow (Sunday, March 27). Twenty-nine routes will be eliminated and weekday service will be significantly reduced on 37 additional routes. Full details on the changes are available by clicking here.

Riders concerned about the transition may check Port Authority's website (portauthority.org), where any information regarding service issues will be posted starting Monday, March 28 at 6 a.m. On Monday, the Customer Service phone line (412-442-2000) will operate on its regular weekday hours, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The service reduction is required to counter a decrease in State funding this year.

  1. Great job onoRATo!
This could have been avoided entirely by concessions until the State helped out

  4. MIKE TURZAI is the majority leader he does NOT care if the folks in the city get to work..Orie wrapped up with her own issues does not CARE if the people in the city get to work..their constituents can afford to take the LENZNER LIMO to town. Hey Lenzner how about a route in Northview Heights or the North Side..DON'T think your jumping on that one. There is enough blame to go around, not a
    WORD from young LUKE!

  5. Stay tuned riders to see how Pat management and the media spin Monday morning..I predict it can go either way.
" Hey not so much confusion, it went pretty well. considering" routes eliminated permanently never to return!
OR buses are late and crowded, " Drivers to blame" What do you think the outcome will be???

  6. Port Authority received $45 of the $47 million they needed. The drink tax also produced an excess of funding.

These cuts are NOT because of State Funding shortfalls. There was more than enough money available to last the Port Authority until the end of the Fiscal Year. These cuts are occuring because the Port Authority is playing a staring contest with the Union, in my opinion.

I'm not going into who's right...Port Authority or the Union, but I will say it's a shame the riders in the city and county are caught in the middle.

  7. You're website is down. Your blog links to today's service changes are completely unavailable to everyone right now. This is not helpful; it is also impossible to reach anyone on your phone line. The changes and the fact that info on them is unavailable is incredibly disappointing.

  13. The union, as all unions eventually do, put the Port Authority into financial distress. The reality of the situation is that the Port Authority is BANKRUPT. Let it file, then either reset the contracts to something reasonable or let it go private.

You can go from Pittsburgh to NYC for $25. About the cost of two heavily subsidized trips from Zone 2. LET IT GO BANKRUPT!!

  14. The Lenzner price is LESS then the SUBSIDIZED PAT price included dirty buses, surly drivers and crowded buses. If you folks can't make a profit with overcrowded buses, YOUR COSTS ARE OUT OF LINE!!!!!!!!

The only real answer is BANKRUPTCY!!!!!!
