Port Authority light rail service will be detoured at various times Sunday,
August 25 by track work in Beechview and a closure of the Mt. Washington Transit
Tunnel. Several bus routes will also be affected by the transit tunnel closure.
From start of service until approximately 5 p.m., outbound Red Line T
service will be detoured for track repairs on Broadway Avenue. Outbound Red Line
will serve its regular stops from the North Shore to South Hills Junction, then
detour via the Blue Line’s routing to Willow/Overbrook, where it will resume
regular route to South Hills Village. Outbound bus shuttles will run from
Station Square to Potomac and outbound local rail shuttles will operate from
Potomac to Overbrook. View
detour notice.
Inbound Red Line will remain on regular
route during this time.
After this detour concludes around 5 p.m., T
service will operate normally until about 8 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., the Mt.
Washington Transit Tunnel will be closed for fan replacement work. This will
detour several bus routes and cause Red Line and Blue Line service to operate
only as far north as South Hills Junction. During the closure, Subway Local
service will operate in both directions between the North Shore and Station
Square, and bus shuttles will operate between Station Square and South Hills
Junction. At South Hills Junction, riders may transfer to/from Red Line-South
Hills Village and Blue Line-Library T service. View
detour notice.
The transit tunnel closure and related
detours will be in effect until the evening’s end of service.
Please
allow for extra time when traveling on detoured service.
