Sunday Night: Transit Tunnel Closed to Buses; T to Single-Track

The Mt. Washington Transit Tunnel will be closed to buses from 6 p.m. Sunday until the evening’s end of service so that Port Authority may conduct rail maintenance.

During the closure, a small number of bus routes will be detoured inbound via Allentown and outbound via the Wabash Tunnel. Riders should allow for extra travel time due to the detour.

T service will still use the tunnel but will single-track in the affected area during this time, with all inbound service using the outbound platforms at South Hills Junction and Station Square. Outbound T service will remain regular route during this time. Delays of around five to eight minutes may occur due to single-tracking.

Please note that all Pittsburgh Marathon-related detours will end by around 3 p.m. Sunday and will not overlap with this detour.
