Red Line Detour Friday Evening Through Sunday

Red Line T service will detour in both directions this weekend so that Port Authority of Allegheny County can replace the at-grade light rail crossing on Dormont Avenue.

The detour will be in effect around-the-clock from 7 p.m. Friday, September 27 through Sunday, September 29.

Red Line service will detour via the Overbrook line (along the Blue Line’s routing) between Overbrook Junction/Willow and South Hills Junction. A local rail shuttle will operate between Overbrook Junction and Dormont Junction. Bus shuttles will operate between Dormont Junction and Fallowfield Station and local rail shuttles will operate between Shiras and South Hills Junction.

Riders should allow for extra time when traveling on detoured service.

View complete detour notice or the map below for additional details, including shuttle bus stops.

In some cases, riders may wish to travel in the opposite direction, then transfer to service in their intended direction in order to minimize transfers. For example, a rider heading ito Downtown from Arlington Stop may wish to ride outbound on the rail shuttle, then transfer inbound at Overbrook Junction/Willow to inbound Blue Line or detoured Red Line, instead of riding inbound on the rail shuttle, transferring to bus shuttle at Dormont Junction, then again to rail shuttle at Fallowfield, then again to T service at South Hills Junction.

Parking restrictions and changes to traffic patterns on Dormont Avenue will be posted during the grade crossing work. Additionally, a portion of the lower lot of Dormont Junction Park and Ride is closed through October 6 so that Port Authority may stage equipment used for the crossing replacement project. ADA-accessible parking spaces remain available.
