New Member Joins Port Authority Board

Port Authority of Allegheny County is pleased to welcome John Tague as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Tague was recently appointed to the Board by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. His term on the Board will expire December 31, 2013.

Mr. Tague has been committed to improving the lives of persons with disabilities in Pennsylvania for more than two decades. As principal of JT Consulting Services, he advises companies and organizations on the creation of disability policies and training programs.

Additionally, he serves on the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations and State Vocational Rehabilitation Board, and is past chair of the Governor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities. Mr. Tague has served on the Committee for Accessible Transportation (CAT), a Port Authority advisory council dedicated to improving transit for individuals with disabilities in Allegheny County. He is a past president of the Allegheny County Transit Council (ACTC) where he promoted concerns of frequent transit users.

He is a graduate of Edinboro University. Mr. Tague is a native of Erie and resides in Greenfield.

“For years, John has been a key presence at Port Authority Board meetings and transit hearings. He has proven himself to be a tireless advocate for riders, especially those living with disabilities,” said Steve Bland, CEO of Port Authority. “I have no doubt that his dedication, depth of knowledge and unique perspective will make him an immediate asset to our Board.”

Port Authority’s Board of Directors is made up of nine unpaid members appointed by the County Executive and approved by County Council.
